Know the rules of printing notes
Let us tell you that the Reserve Bank of India has been printing currency under the “Minimum Reserve System” since the year 1956 to print currency notes. And according to this rule, a minimum reserve of 200 crore rupees has to be kept against currency note printing. And only after keeping this advance payment, the Reserve Bank can print currency notes.
How much was the first note made of?
The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935. That is, the foundation of the Reserve Bank was laid before the independence of our country. In 1938, the RBI first issued a currency note of Rs 5.
And on this five-rupee note, the photo of “King George VI” was printed. That is, the first currency was issued by the Reserve Bank 9 years before the independence of our country. After that, a 10-rupee note, a 100-rupee note and a ₹1,000 currency note were issued in March and June.
The first Indian currency after independence
In 1949, the Reserve Bank of India issued the first currency note of Rs 1 in India after independence. Before that, i.e. before independence, till 1947, the photo of British King George was placed on the currency note issued by the Reserve Bank of India.
In 1969, the photo of Gandhiji was placed on the 100-rupee note as a souvenir by the Reserve Bank. The name of our Indian currency is Indian Rupee (INR). One Indian Rupee is made up of 100 Paisa. The symbol of our Indian currency i.e. Indian Rupee is “₹”. And this design is taken from the Devanagari letter “र”.
